No assigned reading, no obligations. Bring your own book of choice. This is a free social event hosted in our Orchard Room.

We are excited to be Charlottesville's second chapter of Silent Book Club, an international organization bringing bibliophiles together.

From the official website of Silent Book Club:

"At Silent Book Club, there's no assigned reading. All readers are welcome—ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books... it's BYOBook. Our events are free and support local businesses. Friends and strangers gather at a set time and location, order food or drinks, share what they're reading, and settle in for an hour of silent, sustained reading. At the end of the hour, attendees can socialize—or not!

We started Silent Book Club because reading with friends enriches our lives and makes us happy. We love hearing about what people are reading (often in their other book clubs) and we think it's important to put down our phones and be social."

Schedule:
12:30 Arrive early to order food/ drinks/ chat
1-2pm Reading
2-3pm Mingle (or keep reading)

Northern Virginia readers - this one’s for you! Community makes the world go ‘round. The hustle and bustle of the region comes to a pause during monthly Silent Book Club meetings.

Locations vary each month as we support local businesses and try out new neighborhoods. Unwind and recharge with readers in the DMV area!

This chapter will meet the last Wednesday of the month, 6-8pm at Gordon Avenue Library beginning in February 2023. Read together in quiet camaraderie. A book club with no assigned reading, and no required discussion. The evening goes like this:

6-6:30: gather, grab a snack, and settle in.

6:30-7:30 silent reading time.

7:30-8: optional social time, or keep reading.

Registration recommended (this allows the library to send you an automatic reminder leading up to the event). For teens and adults (ages 13+). 

We are @ReadBooksVB , an Independent bookshop located in the VA MOCA Building hosting our chapter at a local brewery (Back Bay Brewery Beach House), the first Tuesday of each month starting March 2023. 

We will start with 30 minutes of social time sharing our latest reads and then set the timer for an hour of silent reading.
