Welcome to the Reston, Virginia chapter of SBC! Come join us for some silent reading time amongst like-minded peers. This is a friendly, no pressure, no judgment, stress free zone where you can chat as much/as little as you want, talk about your current reads or recommendations, and give yourself that dedicated 'you' time with your current read/audiobook.

We’re so excited to meet you, read with you, and grow this community. Follow our Facebook and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/silentbookclubreston) to see updates on upcoming events and join our Discord chat. We like to do polls to see when most folks are free for the next meet up, and then we also switch the location up so that we can experience more of the local area.

Let's get to reading - What’s next on your list?!

Emmanuel has long had a traditional book group: Paperback Spirituality, but it turns out, lots of people who read the book read on their own and don't come to the discussion. So, it dawned on us that there is a wealth of readers in the community who might appreciate sharing their love of books in another -- more introverted -- way. Why limit our love of reading to a single book? Come join us for an occasional gathering of our chapter of the Silent Reading Book Club.

Find us on Facebook.

Welcome to the Lynchburg Silent Book Club! Come read together, in quiet companionship. No mandatory reading assignments - bring whatever you are working on or want to dive into. And no discussion, unless you want to. All are welcome.

We will gather at 6:30 pm. Tea/coffee/cocoa provided. Feel free to bring a snack. You can share what you're reading, if you want, then grab a cozy seat.

We will enjoy quiet reading time from 6:30-7:30 pm.

Then we will wrap up from 7:30-8:00 pm. This is your chance to chat with others about their book recommendations or what they are reading, if you want. If you prefer, you can spend the last half hour continuing your reading.

That's it! No registration required, no homework, no expectations. Just the opportunity to enjoy the company of others with low social obligation and enjoy a great book or your favorite magazine.

North Garden, Virginia (Albemarle Ciderworks)

North Garden, Virginia (Albemarle Ciderworks)

No assigned reading, no obligations. Bring your own book of choice. This is a free social event hosted in our Orchard Room.

We are excited to be Charlottesville's second chapter of Silent Book Club, an international organization bringing bibliophiles together.

From the official website of Silent Book Club:

"At Silent Book Club, there's no assigned reading. All readers are welcome—ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books... it's BYOBook. Our events are free and support local businesses. Friends and strangers gather at a set time and location, order food or drinks, share what they're reading, and settle in for an hour of silent, sustained reading. At the end of the hour, attendees can socialize—or not!

We started Silent Book Club because reading with friends enriches our lives and makes us happy. We love hearing about what people are reading (often in their other book clubs) and we think it's important to put down our phones and be social."

Schedule:
12:30 Arrive early to order food/ drinks/ chat
1-2pm Reading
2-3pm Mingle (or keep reading)

You can read about the experience in Cville Weekly's "Tried it in Cville Column" thanks to talented local journalist Kristie

We also have a Goodreads and a Facebook page for the group, if you'd like to connect!
