Meet people, read books. At the Williamsburg, VA Silent Book Club, we will get together once a month at various venues around the 'burg. Here's how I'd describe the Silent Book Club:

The Silent Book Club is a casual, judgment-free space for book lovers to escape into the world of reading. We meet for an hour of quiet, uninterrupted reading, each person bringing their own book of choice. It's a chance to disconnect from the outside world, delve into a good story, and enjoy the company of others who share the love of books. After the reading session, we offer a chance to socialize and share book recommendations, but participation is entirely optional. Come as you are, with your favorite book in hand, and enjoy the peace and quiet of a shared reading experience.

Do you love to read but can’t iron out the time or pull yourself from distractions? Want to get out of the house and be NEAR people but not BOTHERED BY people? People adjacent, if you will?

Join us at Witch’s Brew Café where you can enjoy a quiet and peaceful environment to simply… read. Bring your own reading materials, there are no assigned books at this book club.

This is a FREE event with food & drinks available for purchase from our limited menu!

Opportunities to chat and connect at beginning and end of each session.

THE SCHEDULE
7:00 pm : Doors open.
7:00-7:15 pm : Order food/drinks, chat, get comfortable.
7:15-8:30 pm : Quiet reading time.
8:30-9:00 pm : Time to quietly chat or continue reading, entirely up to you!

This welcoming congregation invites everyone to its gatherings, regardless of their faith persuasion. Bring your own reading material, or browse a selection of texts that will be set out. Light refreshments will also be provided. There is ample parking; enter the building via the door that faces Rte. 7. Gatherings are up to an hour on the dates listed on the church website.

Teens ages 12 to 18 are invited to come read at the library. Participants are welcome to bring a friend who is older or younger than the 12-18 age range to accompany them. The once-a-month gathering at the library is intended to promote reading and community without anyone feeling intimidated or constrained. Bring your own book or borrow one of ours! Join fellow book lovers for an introverted hour of reading then spend time mingling with other participants. The library will provide easy snacks.

The Nottoway County Silent Book Club is here to serve you! Traditional book clubs aren't always a good fit for a diverse community - it's hard to get everyone interested in reading the same thing! - so this Book Club encourages you to read whatever suits you.

We plan to meet at a variety of locations around the County, and we hope that you'll join us. Whether it's a chance for you to share your favorites and hear about books that you might not discover, or an opportunity to enjoy some quiet time with a good book, all are welcome!
