The East Cowes Chapter is based at the MAD-Aid DOT community room at 11 York Avenue, East Cowes. The community room is fully accessible and you will always receive a warm welcome from the hosts. There is always a second-hand bookstall or book-swap available.

Meetings are typically held on the first Wednesday evening of each month, between 5.30pm and 7.30pm - but do check our Facebook group for updates.

The first half an hour is an opportunity to buy yourself a drink from the bar, and perhaps order something to eat and have a chance to say hello before we all settle down for an indulgent hour reading our own chosen books in companionable silence. Afterwards, there’s an opportunity to share conversation and socialise with the group or just continue to read. Our own books, our own rules!

Come as yourself and indulge in your own favourite way of reading books, whether that’s a well-thumbed favourite classic, an exciting new bestseller, or even an audiobook that has you captured!

Join fellow readers for Silent Book Club, a quiet and cozy gathering – where the joy of reading meets the bliss of silence! Bring your own book to read. No assigned readings, no pressure, just peaceful camaraderie surrounded by the magic of shared stories. Because sometimes the best stories are told in silence.

6:00-6:30pm - People arrive, order drinks/ (bring your own food,) share what you’re reading or not.

6:30-7:30pm - Quiet reading hour upstairs

7:30-8:00pm - Optional socialising, or just keep reading.

Bungay BookReaders is a community group which was set up for fellow bookreaders to connect in and around Bungay.

We are currently hosting two different bookclubs, a 'normal' one and a silent bookclub which both meet up monthly at different dates, times and venues to support the local businesses.
