Here's a now-not-so-novel (!) idea: Inspired by the Silent Book Club phenomenon (https://silentbook.club), bring along your current read of choice, any genre and any format (whether physical books, e-books, or audiobooks). There is NO assigned reading and absolutely NO deadlines to finish a book!
At the start and at the end of the session we spend a few minutes sharing with one another about our book, but even then, there is absolutely no pressure or obligation to do so. You may even find some helpful recommendations of a genre you had never previously considered.
Above all, this is a low-key, low-commitment book club so please drop in whenever you can!

Join us bookworms for a chilled out evening of coffee, cake, and reading. Bring whatever you're reading at the moment - no set book, no set format - lengthy novel, short novella, engrossing report, captivating audio book (don't forget your headphones).

An hour of reading, and a chance to chat if you'd like to be sociable - but no pressure whatsoever.

We'll move around the city to a different venue each month - supporting local independent bars, cafes, and coffee shops. Everyone is welcome, and we will always choose fully accessible venues - so no need to worry about access.

At Silent Book Club, there's no assigned reading. All readers are welcome—ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books... it's BYOBook. Friends and strangers gather at a set time and location, order food or drinks, share what they're reading, and settle in for an hour of silent reading. At the end of the hour, attendees can socialize—or not, it's up to you!

We'll start the meeting with quick introductions and sharing what we’re reading (if you want to share, no pressure!) Don’t worry if you’re running late, just pull up a chair and join us when you can!

6:00pm - Arrive, order drinks/food, get settled and introduce yourself/what you're reading (if you're comfortable doing so)

6:30pm - Quiet reading hour

7:30pm-8:00pm - Feel free to stick around and chat, keep reading, or head home for the night.

Meetings are free to attend, but you're encouraged to support our host location by buying a drink or something to eat, if you can.
