A book club with a twist!

If you enjoy reading and the social aspects a book club offers, but are not interested in assigned reading, then our silent book club could be for you!

First part of the meeting is to socialise, get settled and have a cuppa if you like. Then the silence begins for an hour where everyone enjoys reading in a shared space. After that hour, you can socialise more, browse and borrow a book or head straight out the door!

All readers are welcome — paper books, ebooks or audiobooks, poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction... it's bring your own book!

Silent Book Club takes place on every month at Cleethorpes Library. Please find our upcoming meetings and more information about our chapter here

Are you a book loving introvert living on the sunshine coast? Why not join fellow book-minded people with the Eastbourne chapter of Silent Book Club. We host free monthly reading sessions where we read our own books in companionable silence in the surroundings of the local bookstore.

There are no set readings, so bring whatever book you would like (of any format including ebook, or audio if you have headphones!)

Please note that we are unable to provide refreshments, so bring your own snacks and drinks if required. If you want to chat, need to check your phone or take a call during the designated silent hour, please step outside to avoid disturbing readers.

We will take a photo of bookstacks and e-readers before we dive into the reading hour for a visual summary of what we as a group are currently reading!
