The Silent Book Club in Cobourg, Ontario, is an inclusive and welcoming space for readers of all ages, genders, and identities. Unlike traditional book clubs, there are no assigned readings or structured discussions. Participants are encouraged to bring any book they enjoy, find a comfortable spot, and spend a quiet hour reading in the company of others.

Welcome to Forest Hill Silent Book Club! Bring whatever book you want to read, in whatever format you like (e-Book, audio, etc. are fine). We will introduce ourselves and talk books for about 1/2 hour, then get into the important stuff: an hour of peaceful, quiet reading. Later we can go for coffee, or just head home feeling more relaxed.

Would you like to read with other book loving people without assigned books or necessary review discussions?

Then come join the Friends of the Caledonia Library at our Silent Book Club, where talking about books you enjoy is optional. Bring your own books, ebooks, audiobooks, comic books, graphic novels, textbooks, or borrow one from our library; because all reading is reading.

Snacks will be provided for a small fee as a fundraising effort to support our library needs, programs, and events.
6:00 - 6:30 pm : Have a snack, chat, find a seat
6:30 - 7:30 pm : Quiet reading time
7:30 - 8:00 pm : Optional socializing or continued reading

Have you ever looked at reels and videos of book besties doing readathons, snacking on junk food and drinking a warm comfort beverage, and reading together for hours? That's what the ideal goal is. We love getting together to read anything - it could be different books or even the same... We enjoy socializing, coffee and pastries, and of course, a good book.

Our silent book club will meet once every month. We plan to switch between coffee shops, libraries, and outdoors depending on the mood/weather. Hope you join us and stick around! All books welcome!
