Calling all 'Booktroverts'...remember silent reading time as a kid? How come they don't have that for grownups?
They do! Meet us at the Nook, once a month. Share a book you just finished, one you're currently reading, or one you're about to start. Find new book buds that love the same genres. Find some book recommendations outside your usual genre.
Then, after just the perfect amount of socializing...shhh! It's time to read.

Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA (Next Page Books)

Cedar Rapids’ original Silent Book Club chapter is back! After a brief hiatus, the club will begin meeting again the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm in The Hangry Lady, the charcuterie and vegetarian restaurant located next door to the bookstore.

What’s Silent Book Club? According to the official website, “Silent Book Club is a global community of readers, with more than 500 chapters in 50 countries around the world led by local volunteers. SBC members gather in public at bars, cafes, bookstores, libraries, and online to read together in quiet camaraderie. At Silent Book Club, there's no assigned reading. All readers are welcome - ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books - it's BYOBook. Events are free and support local businesses. Friends and strangers gather at a set time and location, share what they're reading, and settle in for an hour of silent, sustained reading. At the end of the hour, attendees can socialize - or not!”

We couldn’t have said it better, ourselves. We will provide complimentary charcuterie, wine, and comfortable seating in a warm and inviting environment. If possible, we would appreciate a heads up if you’re planning to attend so we can make appropriate arrangements.

You can email the store at npb.newbo@gmail or send us a Facebook message. Either way works!

All readers 16+ are welcome to bring a book of their choice, enjoy some snacks and a drink, and grab a seat to enjoy our Silent Book Club gatherings.
