Welcome to the First Fridays Silent Book Club! Treat yourself to a pressure free environment for some designated reading time. Bring your own reading material, or borrow something from the library. For those interested, there will be a chance to share about your current reads. Then we'll enjoy the rest of the time silently reading while in good company.

Continue readingSilent Book Club® is a global community of readers, with more than 1000 chapters in 50 countries. SBC participants gather in public to share the same space while reading in silence, without the traditional book club’s pressure of having to finish a book on time and discuss it later. All readers are welcome and may participate through any format–a printed book, ebook, audiobook (with headphones), textbook, comic book, etc. SBC meetings are BYObook, but participants may also borrow a book from Shalom’s collection of spiritual and religious titles. Participants will read in silence for the first hour, with the final 30 minutes reserved for optional social time in Shalom’s Dining Room. Coffee, tea, water and simple snacks will be provided.

Area students in grades 7th through 12th have a new way to support their caffeine needs & shrink their "TBR" list through the Logan Public Library's new partnership with Grey Gelding Coffee Co.
Students can read independently with no set book list to complete & books can be in any format. Each month we will host a Silent Book Club meeting. Club members will be able to talk about the books they've been reading for the first 15 to 20 minutes of the meeting, followed by 40 minutes of silent reading time.
Students will earn points for every book they finish & every event they attend. Four points will earn a certificate for a free medium drink from Grey Gelding.
