Updating our Community Guidelines
We created Silent Book Club to be a welcoming and inclusive community for readers. As a platform, Silent Book Club offers an opportunity to create the space and experience members have when they join the group. That's a responsibility we don't take lightly.
We have been listening to members share their experiences in our community, including a lack of representation, exposure to racism, and harm. As leaders, we are committed to promoting and upholding diversity, inclusion, equity, and antiracism. We’ve updated our community guidelines and group rules to ensure that they reflect our priorities and values as an organization committed to antiracism and equality.
A community only exists with the participation and commitment of its members. We ask for your help to ensure that Silent Book Club is a safe space for members regardless of race, sex, gender, religion, culture, or identity. Please read the updated guidelines and rules to understand how your participation shapes this space. If you are no longer interested in participating according to these updates, we encourage you to seek out another group. If you are interested in stepping up to join our small moderation team, please reach out. We welcome your feedback, your assistance, and your reading recommendations.

Facebook Group Rules
1 No hate speech, trolling, or bullying
Personal attacks of any kind aren’t allowed, and offensive comments about race, religion, or identity will not be tolerated. We have a zero tolerance policy for trolling—see full Guidelines.
2 No Promotions or Spam
No self-promotion, contests, deals, or hashtag promotions. This includes self-published books, affiliate links, personal websites, bookstagram, or FB groups. Please don’t post books to buy, sell, or swap.
3 Include your own thoughts and book title/author
Don’t just share memes or links—add your own thoughts. Include the title and author of the book when you post a photo of a cover so that members with visual impairments using assistive devices can join the discussion.
4 Be Thoughtful
This group includes tens of thousands of people around the world. We curate posts to benefit all, so if your post doesn’t get through, check the guidelines and be sure it complies with all posted rules.
5 Sundays are for Reading
We're a small team and we moderate all posts submitted to the group Monday-Saturday. If you share something on a Sunday, expect a short delay.
