Book Hounds is an independent, women owned bookstore in the heart of historic St. Michaels Maryland. Our store, and our silent book club, is a safe space for everyone.

If you enjoy reading but don't enjoy the pressures of keeping up with a regular book club schedule, our silent book club is for you! Come with any book your heart desires or pick up a new one to dive into while you're here! We will have an hour of silent reading with time after to socialize (or don't!) and discuss your current read.

Would you rather read than socialize? Have you ever taken a book to a social event? We have the club for you. We’re starting a Silent Book Club here in Muhlenberg County. If you are unfamiliar with the concept, we will meet once a month. You bring whatever reading material you like. It’s a judgement free zone, so you don’t have to try to impress everyone with your love of the classics, unless that really is what you read. The first fifteen minutes or so are taken up by introductions and showing what you’re reading. This is not mandatory. Then, everyone reads silently for an hour. After that, if you want to stay and talk about books or whatever, you can. No pressure. This is a way for introverts like me to get out among other people and it’s also the book club for people who don’t want to be told what to read. Arrive, socialize, and grab a snack before we settle in for a peaceful hour of reading.

Silent Reading Hour: 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm Bring your current favorite book and read amongst friends in a cozy, distraction-free atmosphere.

Optional Mingling: 7:30 pm - 8:00 pm Stick around for some optional socializing, discuss your latest literary finds, or simply enjoy the company of fellow book lovers. The Details:

A trend straight from New York is coming to the Central Library. We are the second in Poland to launch SILENT BOOK CLUB. In the conference and exhibition room, we will create a space friendly to introverts and not only, where we will devote ourselves together to our greatest passion: silent reading. Everyone is welcome, both lovers of romance and crime novels. Take what you are currently reading with you or borrow something on site, sit comfortably in an armchair and devote yourself to reading.

Free admission tickets are required in the form of a bookmark , available for collection at the adult rental desk.
