It's a Library Summer at Silent Book Club!

We're spotlighting six incredible libraries this July—here's everything you need to know about our campaign to celebrate the spaces that make community possible.

Hello hello! I'm Jazmyn, the Programs Manager for SBC––and we are on a mission this summer to celebrate one of the greatest third spaces we have. You already know where this is going! 

PSA: Your library card unlocks way more than you think!

If you're anything like us, you might have grown up with a library card and the best memories of summer reading programs—and then somewhere along the way, life got busy and the library slipped off your radar. We get it. I get it. That’s why Silent Book Club is jazzed about highlighting libraries; they never stopped showing up for us and our communities!

While we may have been away, our local libraries kept growing, evolving with the times, and offering even more. We’re talking recording studios, makerspaces, tool lending, notary services, cultural programming, author events, nature encounters, free passes to local museums and state parks, and yes, also Silent Book Club chapters. :)

Libraries are doing the most for their communities, and they deserve their flowers. That's exactly why we created this SBC Summer Library Campaign.

Why We're Doing This

At Silent Book Club, we believe libraries are some of the most powerful community spaces in the world. They're free, they're open to everyone, and they do amazing work. Our librarians and other library staff create environments for people to move from surviving to thriving by hosting programming, holding space, and serving their communities in ways that often go unnoticed and underutilized.

Libraries are the change we want to see in the world and Silent Book Club wants more people to know it.

What's Happening All Month Long

Every week in July, we're handing over our Instagram Stories to a librarian or library chapter from our global SBC community. They'll be taking over for a full day to show you firsthand what's happening inside their libraries.
