Mount Laurel Library Silent Book Club

Are you looking for a cozy spot to read in companionable silence? Maybe a place to gather with other book lovers and find out what they're reading? Guess what we have just the place, Mount Laurel Library is starting our own chapter of The Silent Book Club this summer. Every other Monday evening we will gather for 1.5 hours, the first half hour will be set aside to share what you're reading or generally socialize, and the next hour will be for quiet reading.

We will provide a comfortable seating area and refreshments, just bring your own book or choose one from our collection, and join in.

Hi! Welcome to Silent Book Club Rock Hill. We are a laid back group who meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. Our love of reading brings us together, but in a very niche way.

Understanding that not everyone reads at the same pace or has the social bandwidth to handle Q&A sessions, we thought this would be the best club to accommodate anyone who needs a break from their day, work, family, for anyone who is neurodivergent, or anyone who simply wants a cocktail and a good book without interruption (yet not at home).

Our meet-ups begin at 5:30 with a bit of time to chat, order a drink, and get settled in. At 6pm we begin an hour of silent reading. That’s right: silent. It’s a way to be social without really socializing. Or as we say, Extroverted Introverts Unite! Meet new people and get book recommendations. No assigned books, No obligations, No commitments. Just come hang out with whatever YOU want to read.

The Silent Book Club, the Library’s newest book club, is perfect for readers who want to choose which books they read without being expected to participate in a mandatory discussion. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with books by carving out a designated time to read communally in quiet camaraderie!

Our Silent Book Club is open to anyone looking for a place to read in a peaceful, welcoming environment, free of everyday life interruptions. We meet on the first Sunday of every month. The first 15 minutes are used to casually connect with other readers, the next hour and a half will be dedicated to silently reading the book of your choice, and the last 15 minutes will be reserved for those who would like to briefly discuss what they read. Put on your comfy lounge clothes, grab your book, and come join us!

Gather and connect with likeminded friends and strangers at Unruly Cactus Books & Coffee and settle in for an hour of silent, sustained reading. No assigned readings. No pressure to discuss. Just show up with whatever you'd like to read. Before and after the designated reading time, attendees can chat about what they are reading or anything else—or not!

Silent Book Club creates a comfortable shared space and the time to enjoy the love of reading. Monthly on the last Friday, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Reading hour starts at 6:30.

TechOn Cafe is a retro style cafe that features a stylish workspace, advanced technology, comfortable seating, and a place where like-minded individuals can learn, connect, collaborate, and CREATE! Scheduled to open Spring 2024. Our goal is to provide programs, services, and community engagement events that will add to the quality of life. We would like to bring individuals from all backgrounds 18 and older to our space where they can read their own favorite book or enjoy the free use of books that we will provide. Attendees will have the opportunity to network, read, and discuss their book if they choose. This will provide an opportunity for others to learn about various books and authors.
